Cased Luftwaffe Pilot Badge. Maker A and DRGM, Aluminium.

Aluminium based and in a very good, probably unworn condition. The eagle with practically all of the dark oxidised finish. The wreath in anodised silver.
Marked on one side of the wreath with „A“ for the company of Assmann & Sohn from Lüdenscheid and on the other side with the German patent mark „D.R.G.M.“ for Deutsches Reich Gebrauchs Muster. So called first pattern eagle (A.1) with large pierced out portion between the legs, the wreath in the second pattern (A.2). The original hook still crimped into place, very unusual to find on these early aluminium badges.
The fitting case in a very good, slightly used condition. Embossed in gold on top of the lid with the designation „Flugzeugführerabz.“. The inlet covered with blue velvet and the inside of the lid with blue satin. First pattern type case with the early cloth like covering.
A very difficult to find complete set.
