Document Group, Punishment Battalion, German Cross in Gold..

A group of documents from the belongings of Feldwebel Rudolf Düsel. Düsel served with Infantry Regiment 489th He was promoted within a short time from Gefreiter to Feldwebel and decorated several times in Russia were he was also severely wounded.
Amongst other things he was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross, the German Cross in Gold, and all three classes of the Wound Badge.
As a member of the occupation forces in Norway, he was sentenced by a court martial to ten years in prison. He was demoted to private and lost all of his awards .
Finally, he was pardoned and instead of prison he was sent on probation to a punishment unit, Z.B.V. 500 . He was killed whilst in this unit in early 1945.
All award documents were „canceled“ by a black bar over the certificate. The winner deleted from the award lists.
