Cased German Cross in Gold. Type Juncker 6 Rivet. Possessions Hauptmann Fritz Merkl.

The heavy (63,8 g) Tombak based cross with 2nd type wreath (seldom seen), in an excellent, probably unworn condition. The enamel without damage, not even scuffed or scratched. The mirror with all of the silver plate and some patina. The wreath with all of the gilt plate the high points burnished.
TChe top starburst with all of the grey finish, the bottom starburst with all of the silver plate, the tips burnished and with some patina.
Not marked but a known variation that has been attributed to the company of C.E. Juncker from Berlin. See Dietrich März, The German Cross, p.162- 171, wreath type 2.
The fitting case, flatter than most German Cross cases and typical for Juncker, in a very good, slightly used condition. With embossed gold rim around the lid and mushroom head push button.
Awarded on 23. Januar 1942 and fFrom the possessions of Hauptmann Fritz Merkl. Winner of this very German Cross in Gold and mentioned in the Army Honour Roll.
Extremely difficult to find example in very nice condition. One of the nicest Juncker crosses we have ever seen.
