WW1 Honour Goblet for Achievement in Aerial Warfare. Iron.

Iron based and in an excellent, undamaged condition with all of the silver plate still present and some patina. Stamped on the bottom, around the Prussian style eagle with „Chef des Feldflugwesens“.
2nd pattern goblet awarded around 1918 (1st patterns are silver). Stamped Iron, soldered together with hammered finish. Around the base the text „Dem Sieger im Luftkampfe“ with flowered background. With four hollow balls as feet, these all, unusually, completely undamaged.

The Honour Goblet for Aerial Achievement was created in 1915. The Association of the „patriotic gratification of the Air Force“ donated the General of the Air Forces Lieutenant General v. Höppner a significant sum to create the award. The Goblet was awarded to all pilots, airmen and aircraft observers after their first victory over an enemy aircraft, regardless of rank. The exact number of awards is unfortunately unknown, in his book, Carsten Baldes estimates about 2,400 awards, the vast majority in silver.

Extremely difficult to find, especially in such condition.
