Commemorative Medal for Participation in the Night Flight XI Olympiade Berlin 1936.

Bronze based and in a very good, barely used condition. Marked with the artist name „Otto Placzek“. Size approx. 70 mm.

For the opening ceremony of the XI Olympics, and at the suggestion of the Organizing Committee, the Aero Club of Germany organized an international navigation by stars flight to the Rangsdorf airfield near Berlin from July 29th to 30th, 1936. The idea was to unite as large a number of sport flyers from as many countries as possible. A total of 54 aircraft from 16 nations took part. A total of around 250 medals were presented.
