Tombak/brass based and in an excellent, unworn condition. The wreath with all of the bright matt gilt plate, the high points burnished. The eagle with all of the matt silver plate, the swastika and wing tips burnished and attached to the wreath with two typical rivets.
Not marked but a known variation that has been attributed to the company of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid (FLL). So called 1st pattern due to the use of a barrel hinge instead of the more common laying block.
The fitting and typical FLL type case in a very good, barely used condition. Embossed in gold on top of the lid with the designation „Flugzeugführer- u. Beobachter-Abzeichen“. The inlet covered with blue velvet and the inside of the lid with blue satin.
Extremely difficult to find 1st pattern set in best condition.
