Tombak/brass based and in an excellent, probably unworn condition. The wreath with all of the matt gilt plate still present, the high points burnished. The eagle with all of the matt silver plate still present, the swastika and high points burnished and attached to the wreath with two typical rivets.
Not marked but a known variation that has been attributed to the company of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid (FLL). With the typical laying block hinge. See Sebastian Talbot, The Luftwaffe Pilot and combined Pilot & Observer Badges.
The fitting case in a very good, barely used condition. Embossed in gold on top of the lid with the designation „Luftwaffe Flugzeugführer- u. Beobachter-Abzeichen“. The inlet and inside of the lid covered with blue sprayed felt.
