Document Group 3./ Aufklärungsgruppe Ob.d.L. (Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe)

A group of documents from the possessions of the Unteroffiziers Helmut Engelke. Engelke served with the 3. Gruppe der Aufklärugsgruppe des Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe (3rd group of reconnaissance under the chief command of the air force). A very unusual squadron.
All documents in a good, slightly used condition. Comprised of documents for:

– Bronze National Sport Badge.

– Observer Badge.

– Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939 with original signature.

The reconnaissance group Ob. d. L. , 1st and 2nd (F)/Ob. d. L. was formed in Berlin-Staaken on January 1939 and flew image reconnaissance at high altitudes in all theaters of war, from the results of which the target files for the attack units were compiled.

3.. d. L. Location Jüterbog (Old Camp) flew under Ob. d. L. Group missions over Poland. Renamed 3.(F)/Ob on October 24, 1939. d. L. (first Thu 17, later He 111). Until the end of 1941, missions like squadrons 1 and 2. From 1942 – 1943 as a normal F squadron, first with FAG 2 in the northern sector, from January 27, 1943 with the Don Air Force Command in the southern sector and renamed 3./100 (Do 215) .
In July 1943 moved to Oranienburg and converted to Ju 290. Joined FAG 5 as 2nd squadron and flew for the command from September 1943. d.

Submarine convoy reconnaissance from Mont-de-Marsan over the Atlantic (Gibraltar-North Channel-Ireland). After the invasion, relocation to Neubiberg, later Rechlin and conversion to Arado 234. On February 28, 1945 renamed 2./FAG 1 and on April 26, 1945 as Pz.Jagd-Abt.
